Masterclasses

Following the rising interest in home baking and cake decorating, Dominique has designed a selection of masterclasses intended to be fun and educational days for amateurs and experienced cake decorators. Dominique demonstrates her exquisite sugarcraft techniques and shares her top tips before giving students the chance to try their new skills. These masterclasses make also wonderful gifts for birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions. We are able to send personalised gift certificates. Please note classes are held in English or French.

Adult masterclasses: Couture Handbag,  Saturday 2nd October 2010

Class description:
Join Dominique for this “couture” masterclass and learn how to make a fashionable handbag. Step by step, Dominique will guide you through shaping the cake, covering with marzipan and icing the bag, as well as creating pretty finishing touches, such as handles, polka dots, bows, flowers, stitched trim and piped details. You will then use your creativity to design your own couture handbag that you can take away with you.
Catering:
Lunch, coffee, tea and cool drinks will be provided.   Should you have any dietary requirements, please advise us upon booking.
Kitchen Attire:
Aprons will be provided and must be returned at the end of the class.
Ingredients, tools and equipment:
All ingredients, supplies and tools will be provided for each student and must be returned to The French Cake Company.
Cake supplies, aprons and equipment can be purchased on the day.
Transportation boxes:
A box to transport cakes will be provided.

Childrens Masterclasses: Fun Halloween Cookies, Saturday 23rd October 2010 and Wednesday 27th October 2010,

Class description:
Dominique has designed this fun class to introduce children to basic decorating techniques. Dominique will assist with coloring the icing, preparing the parchment piping bag so they can decorate their cupcakes / cookies.  At the end of the class, each child will receive a certificate “Top Cookie Decorator at The French Cake Company” and may take their creations home.
Catering:
Juice and water will be provided for each student.
Kitchen Attire:
Aprons will be provided and must be returned at the end of the class.

Class description:
Dominique will demonstrate how to successfully cover a cake with marzipan and sugar paste. She will also create festive designs and decorate Christmas cookies. After the practice session, you will create your own festive designs and cookies. These decorations will last through until Christmas so you can use them for your Christmas cake.
